Essay Contest

The Mills County Historical Commission places great importance on recording “oral history.” We invite every graduating Senior in Mills County to submit a 500-700 word essay retelling the experiences of a long-time Mills County resident.

NOTICE TO ALL 2023 MILLS COUNTY GRADUATING SENIORS


DEADLINE: May 1, 2023
AWARD: $500 to be given directly to essay winner
JUDGING: MCHC Committee APPLICATION MUST CONTAIN THE FOLLOWING:
  1. Signatures as indicated
  2. Contact information
  3. Photo of interviewer & interviewee together
  4. Essay relating life of interviewee to Mills County
  5. Documentation as needed
  6. Essay--free of error and ready for printed and online publication
  7. Signed statement of Originality
  8. Signed Statement of Single Submission (just to MCHC)
  9. Signed Publication Releases
10. Postmarked entry to verify deadline

AVAILABILITY OF FORMS AND STATEMENTS:

Packet of Forms and Statements to sign may be obtained from High School Counselors at Goldthwaite, Mullin, or Priddy, or may be printed from MCHC website.

NOTE: MCHC Essay Contest replaces the 2010 through 2017 MCHC Scholarships
