Pioneer Families
The Mills County Historical Commission (MCHC) wants to recognize and honor early pioneer families of Mills County. When the program started in 2001, Bobby Joe Davis was the Pioneer Family Representative. Since that time the MCHC has offered certificates to honor pioneer families who settled in Mills County before December 31, 1910.
To be eligible, a descendant must prove their family lineage or their blood line and prove they acquired property in Mills County prior to the end of 1910.
An application is available here, as a Microsoft Word document or as a PDF. Applications can also be picked up at the Chamber of Commerce, Goldthwaite City Hall, McMahan Pharmacy and Jennie Trent Dew Library.
There is a $20.00 fee when the application is submitted. You can mail your application to MCHC, PO BOX 403, Goldthwaite, TX 76844. Judy McKinney will verify the application and your certificate will be mailed to you. For more information call Judy McKinney at 325-938-7777.
